The 1949 Buick Roadmaster Riviera Hardtop was one of the first pillarless hardtop coupes in American automotive history — a body style that eliminated the B-pillar to create an open, airy cabin when the windows were lowered, giving the car the feeling of a convertible with the weather protection of a closed roof.
