The C6 Chevrolet ZR1, produced from 2009 to 2013, featured the handbuilt LS9 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 638 horsepower — the most powerful engine General Motors had ever mass-produced at that time. Each LS9 was assembled by a single technician at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan, who signed a plaque affixed to the engine, bringing a level of artisan craftsmanship to an American V8. The C6 ZR1 also featured a carbon-fibre roof panel, a raised bonnet with a polycarbonate window exposing the supercharger, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes that provided extraordinary stopping power with virtually no fade.
