The Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina was a limited-edition open-top variant of the 550 Maranello, with just 448 units produced. The car featured a small, manually operated fabric top that was intended for emergency weather protection only — in normal use, the Barchetta was meant to be driven with the top completely removed, exposing the driver to the elements and the full symphony of the 5.5-liter V12. The car revived the Barchetta body style that had been a Ferrari tradition since the 166 MM of 1948, connecting the modern car directly to the marque's founding heritage.
