The Jaguar C-Type — officially the XK120-C — was the car that gave Jaguar its first Le Mans victory in 1951 and introduced disc brakes to international motorsport in 1953. The C-Type was designed specifically for racing, using a tubular space frame chassis that was lighter and more rigid than the XK120's production body structure, while retaining the proven 3.4-liter XK twin-cam engine in tuned form. The 1953 C-Type was the first racing car to use disc brakes developed by Dunlop, replacing the drum brakes that faded dangerously during the 24-hour race. This innovation gave the C-Type a decisive advantage in the race's closing hours. These 3D domed wheel center cap emblems honor that pioneering racer.
