The second-generation Jaguar XK — produced from 2006 to 2014 — was a dramatic evolution of the grand tourer concept, built on an all-aluminum platform that made it one of the lightest cars in its class while offering a level of interior luxury and refinement that competed directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL and BMW 6 Series. The XKR used a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 producing up to 510 horsepower, and the XKR-S — the most powerful version — generated 542 horsepower and was capable of reaching 186 miles per hour. The second-generation XK's flowing bodywork, with its distinctive power bulge bonnet and sculpted flanks, created a visual presence that was more aggressive and contemporary than the previous XK8 model.
