The Lancia Beta Montecarlo — known as the Scorpion in North America — was a mid-engined two-seat sports car produced from 1975 to 1981 that offered genuine exotic car proportions and driving dynamics at an accessible price point. The Montecarlo featured a transversely mounted 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine behind the passenger compartment, Pininfarina-designed bodywork with dramatic pop-up headlights, and a chassis that provided sharp, responsive handling that belied its modest power output.
