The original Mazda RX-7 SA — known as the FB in later markets — was produced from 1978 to 1985 and is the car that brought the rotary-powered sports car into the mainstream, selling over 470,000 units and proving that a lightweight, affordable, rear-drive sports car powered by a Wankel engine could compete successfully with established sports car makers. The SA RX-7 established the formula of lightweight chassis plus rotary engine that defined every subsequent RX-7. These 3D domed wheel center cap emblems honor that original RX-7.
