The Mazda Millenia — sold as the Xedos 9 in European markets — was the brand's luxury flagship sedan from 1993 to 2003, featuring the innovative Miller-cycle 2.3-liter supercharged engine that used a unique valve timing strategy to achieve supercharged performance with naturally aspirated fuel economy. The Miller-cycle KJ-ZEM engine compressed the intake charge in a Lysholm-type supercharger but left the intake valves open longer during the compression stroke, reducing the effective compression ratio while maintaining a high expansion ratio for improved thermal efficiency. The Millenia represented Mazda's most ambitious attempt at the luxury sedan market and demonstrated the kind of unconventional engineering thinking that has always defined the brand. Each emblem features the Mazda badge reproduced on premium automotive vinyl at high resolution with fade-resistant solvent inks. A thick dome of UV-stabilized polyurethane resin covers the print, forming a crystal-clear, scratch-resistant, waterproof surface. The adhesive is a pre-applied industrial acrylic film.
