The Opel Kadett E Cabriolet, unveiled in spring 1987, was the first concrete expression of the Opel-Bertone partnership and proved that the collaboration could deliver a genuinely desirable product. Bertone designed and built the convertible version of the Kadett E at their Grugliasco factory, featuring a distinctive roll-bar behind the rear seats that added both structural rigidity and visual character. Despite the open-top conversion, the Kadett Cabrio retained eighty-five percent of the closed car's original torsional stiffness through reinforced longitudinal members, a strengthened rear cross member, and a braced windshield frame. Around 60,000 examples were built during its six-year production run. These 3D domed wheel center cap emblems carry that convertible heritage.
